A Story of A "Handbag heroine"

A few days ago, Ann Timson was to auction a "special" handbag, which she used to fight off six-strong group of armed robbers. She is a 71-year-old market trader, and now called "handbag heroine" after fighting off those robbers with sledgehammers.

However, speaking to US television channel NBC, she said, "I'm not a hero or a heroine or a supergran. I just thought a kid was being hit.

"In for a penny, in for a pound. I think the adrenaline got going and the second thought was how dare they do a daylight robbery? That was it. I was mad."

About more details of the event, she told that her dash towards the robbers as "an amble" rather than a run. Speaking of the "weapon" - the handbag, "It was just a two-handed thing", she said so.

At that time, nobody came to her aid, she admitted, "it did a bit" boring that. But she added: "I think they stood absolutely mesmerised and somebody afterward said they thought it was a wind-up for a show."
